NCCB is run by a group of volunteers that make up the Board of Directors. We hold elections every year for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Member-at-Large, with volunteers supporting other positions/committees. Our conductors are selected through a job application process, and our current conductor has been leading the NCCB since Fall 2016.
Conductor: Sebastian Adams
Sebastian’s passion for conducting blossomed during his experiences as drum major for both his high school and undergraduate university marching bands. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education at the University of Colorado at Boulder while studying with Allan McMurray, Matthew Roeder, and Daniel Silver. After graduating, he became the Director of Instrumental Music at Thornton High School, and he tripled the program’s size during his three-year tenure. During the first two years with NCCB, he earned a Master of Music Education with a cognate in Wind Conducting at Colorado State University under the mentorship of Erik Johnson and Rebecca Phillips. After serving as Interim Professor of Music Education at Colorado State University, Sebastian taught instrumental music in Poudre Valley School District followed by Saint Vrain Valley School District, where he brought a thriving mariachi program back to life in addition to teaching band. His experience serving students as an honor band conductor and festival clinician spreads across six school districts, and he is the Visual Director of SpaRk! at the Santa Rosa Junior College in California. Sebastian has been the Artistic Director of the Northern Colorado Concert Band since 2016, and he never looks back. He thinks the world of the musicians in the NCCB and cherishes every single musical moment with them.
President: Ann Donoghue
Ann grew up in a home filled with music: often 3 or 4 pianos at a time were in the living room, and each could play itself! Ann started piano lessons in 2nd grade, added flute in 6th grade, bassoon in 7th grade, fife in 9th grade, and was drum major of the marching band. In the Plymouth Centennial Park High School (Michigan) music program she played in the symphonic and marching bands, participating in local and state competitions. She was also a member of the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps, and the Michigan All-State Concert Band. A long hiatus from music occurred during her college years. When she finally saved up enough money to buy a used bassoon, she joined The Blawenburg Band, a 120-year-old community band in New Jersey. Ann moved to Colorado in 1996 and joined the NCCB where she’s been playing bassoon (and sometimes percussion) ever since. She is also a member of The Harmonic Ketones, a flute quartet performing in Northern Colorado, and the Health and Wellness Community Orchestra.
Vice President: Susan Epperson
Susan started playing flute, piccolo, and occasionally percussion with NCCB after a 15-year hiatus while her children were young and very busy with their own projects. As a member of NCCB, a local symphony, and flute quartet, and playing with her church’s worship team, she is a busy musician. In her other life she is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and serves as the Blood Services Quality Coordinator for UCHealth, working with the blood donor centers and the transfusion services up here in the northern region. She enjoys spending time scuba diving with her husband, gardening, and being with her family, which is luckily also in Fort Collins.
Treasurer: Ryan Allen
Ryan Allen is a high school math teacher in Greeley. He has been playing the clarinet since 5th grade including spending 4 years as a a member of the Michigan Marching Band. Ryan is originally from Michigan. He has been in the NCCB ever since he moved to Colorado, serving as Member-at-Large from early 2017 until fall 2020. When not playing with the NCCB, he enjoys reading, video games, and racquetball, and is an avid board gamer.
Secretary: Robby Stokoe
Robby first picked up the tenor saxophone in 6th grade. He continued playing through high school, serving in the marching band as section leader during his junior year and drum major during his senior year. After taking a short break to earn three engineering degrees at Colorado State University, he resumed playing and joined the NCCB for their 2018/2019 season. He was elected to the Secretary position in 2022. While not playing saxophone or working as a software engineer, Robby enjoys hiking, mountain biking, swimming, cooking, and reading.
Member-at-Large: Robin Romeyn
Robin began studying piano at the young age of four and additionally took up the flute at age 10, studying privately with teachers in her hometown, Grand Rapids, Michigan. After high school, Robin joined the United States Marine Band in San Diego, where she was the principal flute and piccolo player and section leader. Additionally, she played the keyboard in the Marine Band’s Showband, which played music ranging from country to jazz to big band to funk. After serving in the Marines, she studied graphic design and marketing at San Diego City College and the University of North Florida. For over 25 years, Robin has worked as a private piano teacher and currently teaches at her home studio, Tweet Street Music, in Timnath, teaching students young to old and at all levels. Robin also enjoys painting and has had the opportunity to be part of the Pianos About Town art project in Fort Collins where she painted two pianos in 2018 and 2020. When not making art or playing music, Robin stays very busy with her three amazing boys, her wonderful boyfriend and also enjoys the active outdoor lifestyle of Northern Colorado. Robin joined the Northern Colorado Concert Band in 2018, and plays the flute and piccolo.
